Yoga 101

This five-week series is designed to give a comprehensive introduction to yoga. Yoga is a multi-faceted approach to wellbeing that includes not just physical movement, but nervous system regulation and a series of mental practices designed to unify body, mind, and spirit. Class is designed to meet weekly for 75 minutes each week; most classes are part lecture, part movement. Participants should be able to get up and down off the floor without assistance.

  • Class One: Introduction to Yoga and Etiquette

  • Class Two: Introduction to Breathwork and the Nervous System

  • Class Three: Introduction to History and Philosophy

  • Class Four: Introduction to Meditation

  • Class Five: Full Practice

Yoga Alignment Essentials

This six week series is designed for students who have been practicing for at least six months who would like a deeper understanding of postural alignment. It breaks down postures into recognizable categories and teaches the key muscle actions that need to be in place for structural integrity to provide appropriate strengthening and stretching for any body type. Class teaches key kinesiology terminology, such as extension, flexion, internal and external rotation, lateral movement, and how these movement patterns translate into muscular action. Students walk away from this class ready to apply these principles to any yoga posture, whether familiar or not.

  • Class One: Intro to Kinesiology Terminology and Standing Poses

  • Class Two: Forward Folds

  • Class Three: Backbends

  • Class Four: Twists

  • Class Five: Seated Poses

  • Class Six: Arm Balances

Retreats

A wonderful way to deepen your connection to your practice and yourself. These are also great ways to connect as a community, as the group is together for an extended period of time. Retreats include: four yoga practices (two hatha/vinyasa and two yin/restorative), two meditations, and one workshop centered around a particular theme or idea. Retreats can be virtual or at a provided location following appropriate social distancing recommendations. These can also be shortened and tailored for your group’s needs.

Retreat themes include:

Deepen Your Practice - a retreat designed for the more serious yoga student or teacher who needs an opportunity to reconnect to and deepen their own practice. The afternoon workshop centers around creating a “sankalpa” - or a deeply rooted intention that guides all decisions. This sankalpa is expressed in multiple forms and shared with the group. Useful for anyone who is feeling like they need a guide, as well as yoga teachers looking to determine what they offer that is unique in the yoga world.

Embrace the Light - A Yoga Retreat for Santosha - a retreat designed for those who need more santosha, or contentment, in their lives. The afternoon workshop centers around acknowledging where we have and do not have control. Participants will be encouraged to explore their values, priorities, and craft a vow for themselves to guide their decisions. Guided meditations will assist in acknowledging our patterns and where we can let go.
